The 5th Senatorial District of Georgia covers a land area which encompasses the Interstate 85 corridor beginning just outside of the 285 perimeter, running from Pleasantdale Road northeast to Sugarloaf Parkway. The majority of the district lies in Gwinnett County with a small portion of the district falling within the confines of Dekalb County.
The 5th district is blessed to be home to over 155,000 people who make up the most ethnically diverse Senatorial district in the state. Over 120 languages are spoken amongst the district's inhabitants, with substantial population groups originating from four continents outside of North America, including South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
